Geography A-Level syllabus – what you’ll learn

As you work at your own pace, you’ll get to explore the systems of different landscapes, from dry deserts to coastal systems and dynamic glaciers! This will lead you to discover the hazards the natural environment faces when ecosystems are under stress, and the implications of developing urban environments, as well as globalisation. During A-level Geography, you’ll develop your skills in both qualitative and quantitative approaches to gathering, processing and interpreting relevant information and data. Study Hours

  • The learning hours for this course are up to 300 hours, which is around 30 minutes per day for 18 months.

Course Duration

  • On average, students complete this course in 12 months, but we'll give you up to 24 months. Don’t worry if you go over the year though, we can organise an extension to your course for an additional fee, which also extends your tutor support.


Assessment

  • You’ll be required to complete four standard A-level Geography written exams.

    A-level Geography exams and coursework

    • Paper 1: 1 hour 30 minutes, 25% of A-Level, 60 marks.
    • Paper 2: 1 hour 30 minutes, 25% of A-Level, 60 marks.
    • Paper 3: 1 hour 30 minutes, 25% of A-Level, 60 marks.
    • Paper 4: 1 hour 30 minutes, 25 of A-Level, 60 marks.

    These exams contain a mixture of short and long answer questions and extended response questions.

    We provide a guaranteed exam space in one of our partner exam centres around the UK.

    We also offer an exam pass guarantee. If you don’t pass the first time, we’ll support you for free, to your next exams.

    Assignments

    During your course, you’ll be required to complete various assignments. These do not contribute towards your final grade but provide you with an opportunity to submit work to your tutor for marking and feedback. This will help you to monitor your progress and will be used to produce predicted grades if needed.
